Nigeria Makes History with Double Victory at 2023 CAF Awards

In a resounding achievement, Nigeria asserted its dominance at the 2023 CAF Awards held in Marrakesh, Morocco. The evening showcased a remarkable display of talent, with Nigerian players clinching top honors in both the men's and women's categories.

Nigeria achieved unprecedented success at the 2023 CAF Awards as Victor Osimhen emerged as the African Footballer of the Year. Osimhen's outstanding performance in the 2022/2023 season, where he netted 31 goals in 39 appearances, led Napoli to their first Scudetto since 1989. This victory marks Nigeria's historic moment, becoming the first country to produce both male and female winners of the Africa Player of the Year.

Asisat Oshoala, the prolific striker, secured her sixth African Women's Player of the Year title at the same event. Oshoala's stellar contributions included guiding Barcelona to victory in the women's UEFA Champions League and claiming the Spanish Primera division title. Additionally, she finished as the top scorer in the Premier division.

Adding to the accolades, Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was named the best goalkeeper in Africa. Her pivotal role in Nigeria's journey to the 2023 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they reached the round of 16, showcased her exceptional skills on the global stage.

In summary, Nigeria's dominance at the 2023 CAF Awards marks a historic chapter, reinforcing the nation's prowess in African football and setting new milestones with Osimhen and Oshoala's well-deserved recognitions.
