Liverpool Star Mohamed Salah's Injury Worse Than Initially Reported

Liverpool's star forward, Mohamed Salah, is facing a more severe injury setback than initially disclosed, according to his agent, Ramy Abbas.

The 31-year-old was forced to leave the pitch during Egypt's AFCON 2023 second group stage match against Ghana, failing to complete the first half.

Ramy Abbas, representing Mo Salah, has stated that Salah's participation in the ongoing AFCON is in doubt. The final outcome of Egypt's chances to advance to the knockout stage hinges on their upcoming group stage match. Currently, the Pharaohs sit in third place after securing two draws.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Abbas mentioned, "The injury is more serious than first thought. He will be sidelined for a period ranging from 21 to 28 days." Salah has already returned to Liverpool for medical attention, addressing the hamstring injury suffered during the AFCON match.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp faces the challenge of rehabilitating Salah in time for their upcoming league games. While there is a possibility that Salah may return to Côte D'Ivoire for the AFCON if he recovers well, it is contingent on Egypt securing a spot in the round of 16.

Abbas emphasized, "His optimal chance of participating in the current AFCON is through intensive rehabilitation in the UK and rejoining the team as soon as he is deemed fit." The uncertainty surrounding Salah's availability adds an element of concern for both Liverpool and Egypt as they navigate the remainder of the tournament.
