Mikel Arteta's Assessment of Gabriel Jesus' Injury Impact on Arsenal vs Liverpool Showdown

Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, lauded Gabriel Jesus' resilience following an injury setback, emphasizing his crucial role in Arsenal's 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest.
Jesus encountered a missed opportunity during the match, striking the crossbar with his shot. However, he swiftly redeemed himself, capitalizing on an opportunity created by Oleksandr Zinchenko, maneuvering behind the Forest defense to secure a goal. Shortly after, Jesus contributed to Arsenal's second goal, assisting Bukayo Saka during a swift counterattack initiated by Gonzalo Montiel's errant pass.

"Gabi started to win the game two days ago," Arteta remarked post-match. "He had an issue with his knee, and everyone was advising caution, but he insisted on being present, expressing his desire to contribute to the team's victory. When you possess such mentality, positive outcomes are inevitable. I'm immensely pleased with his performance."

The uncertainty looms over Jesus' availability for the upcoming crucial encounter against Liverpool. Arteta refrained from providing a definitive answer, opting to highlight the positives gleaned from the match instead.

"I don't know if he’ll be fit," stated Mikel Arteta. "He sustained a significant blow in the last game, aggravating his knee, the same one he underwent surgery on previously. Despite this setback, he displayed remarkable positivity, feeling confident and displaying sharpness in training. His performance tonight did not surprise me."

Jesus had been a source of concern leading up to the City Ground victory, nursing a knee injury sustained in the previous weekend's triumph against Crystal Palace. This injury mirrored the one for which Jesus underwent surgery in the summer, causing him to miss the commencement of the season.
