Popular Yoruba Nollywood actress, Aisha Lawal, recently revealed a harrowing encounter with a life-threatening incident during the massive explosion that shook Ibadan on Tuesday night.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Lawal disclosed that she initially parked her car to purchase suya near the estate but relocated it just before the tragic event unfolded. Grateful for her safety, the actress expressed shock at the numerous casualties reported.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, confirmed the devastating impact of the explosion at Dejo Oyeleye Street, Bodija area, revealing that two lives were lost, and 77 individuals sustained injuries. The governor attributed the explosion to illegal mining activities, where explosive devices were stored in a residential building.
Governor Makinde highlighted the state's prompt response, detailing the deployment of first responders and relevant agencies for immediate search and rescue operations.
Lawal shared her experience, stating, "Alhamdulilah for today, I was at Bodija when the explosion happened, in fact, my ears are still ringing from the effect. Thank God for our lives. I even parked to buy suya opposite that Estate o! Now later moved my car from Sloggers Club to the Metro hotel on the same Osuntokun when it happened. Olohun anu oooooooo."
Expressing concern over the alarming number of casualties, she added, "Too many dead bodies, ehhhhhh what exactly is going on ooo. Olohun sanu oooo."
This incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and regulatory oversight in communities to prevent such tragic events in the future.
