Nigerian sensation Burna Boy has publicly rebuked veteran rapper Idris Abdulkareem for dismissing his previous assertion that no established artists had facilitated his rise in the music industry.
In a snippet released from the popular podcast "The Honest Bunch," Idris Abdulkareem addressed various topics, including Burna Boy's 2020 statement. Burna Boy had previously lamented the lack of support from industry veterans during his formative years. Abdulkareem branded this assertion as 'stupid talk.'
Responding to Abdulkareem's criticism, Burna Boy reportedly took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his dismay.
In a since-deleted post on X, Burna Boy called out Abdulkareem for his remarks, shifting the blame away from the veteran rapper himself. Burna Boy asserted that Abdulkareem was not at fault for his comments; rather, he directed his frustration towards those who had financially supported Abdulkareem during his health struggles, particularly when he battled kidney complications.
Burna Boy's social media statement read, "Abdul Kareem, or whatever they call you, I do not blame you. I blame the individuals who generously donated towards your medical bills. I wish you had the opportunity to experience the same environments I find myself in. Let us not repeat the same mistakes."
In this exchange, Burna Boy's pointed response underscores his frustration with the industry's dynamics and highlights the complexities of navigating the music scene in Nigeria.
