Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali couldn't hold back his emotions as Nigeria suffered a 2-1 defeat to Côte D'Ivoire in the AFCON 2023 final.
In a dramatic final match, Nigeria's early lead, courtesy of William Troost Ekong's goal, was nullified by a powerful header from Côte D'Ivoire's Frank Kessie in the second half.
The tension escalated as Côte D'Ivoire sealed their victory with a remarkable improvised finish by Sebastian Haller in the 81st minute.
The heartbreak was evident as Stanley Nwabali, who had displayed brilliance throughout the tournament, was captured in tears after the final whistle.
