Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, extends his apology to Kalvin Phillips for remarks regarding the midfielder's weight.
Manchester City's manager, Pep Guardiola, publicly expressed regret for his comments about Kalvin Phillips' weight, following the midfielder's return from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Guardiola's remarks came as he explained Phillips' absence from the squad for a Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Liverpool.
Addressing the issue ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League clash with Brentford, Guardiola stated, “I’m sorry. I do apologise to him. I’m so sorry.”
Meanwhile, Phillips, 28, has finalized his move to West Ham United in London, where he will play until the end of the season. Since joining Manchester City from Leeds United two years ago, Phillips has encountered difficulties securing a regular place in Guardiola's team.
