Cameroonian Federation Cracks Down on Age Fraud: 62 Players Suspended

The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has taken a firm stance on age fraud, suspending 62 players for misrepresentation, including the youngest member of their squad for January's Africa Cup of Nations.

Suspension of Wilfried Nathan Douala
FECAFOOT's official list, released over the weekend, revealed the suspension of 17-year-old Wilfried Nathan Douala, who was unexpectedly included in Rigobert Song's squad for the tournament in the Ivory Coast.

It's been gathered that The Victoria United skipper has been disqualified from participating in the Elite League's play-off games due to misrepresentation of his age

The suspension of Douala, who concealed his real age, is part of a broader crackdown that includes 61 other players. While Douala's actual age remains undisclosed, his case is indicative of a widespread problem within Cameroonian football. Notably, despite his inclusion in the squad, Douala did not feature in any matches during the competition as Cameroon were eliminated in the last 16 by eventual finalists Nigeria

These stringent measures by FECAFOOT underscore their dedication to upholding the integrity of the sport and maintaining fair competition within Cameroonian football.
