However, amidst the celebrations, a photo surfaced on social media showing Declan Rice with a noticeable stain on his shorts. Addressing the issue, Rice participated in a discussion on the Peter Crouch Podcast, where Steve Sidwell reached out to him for clarification.

Sidwell, addressing Rice on the podcast, raised the concern, stating, "There's a picture circulating on socials with you bending over to take a corner – looks like the other night against Porto – and there's a dark stain on your shorts." He further inquired, "When you go in after and you took your shorts off, were there no skidders?"

In response, Declan Rice acknowledged the circulating image, emphasizing that the mark on his shorts was indeed suspicious-looking. However, he clarified that it was simply mud from tackles during the game and not the result of any mishap.

Assuring listeners, Rice confirmed, "I can confirm that there were no skidders, mate," adding, "So, I'm happy to assume it's 100 per cent mud. I did fly into a few tackles and got myself in a few positions… So yeah mate, it definitely ain't that."
