The Bayer Leverkusen star, who was anticipated to spearhead the Super Eagles' attack alongside Victor Osimhen, sustained an injury just before the tournament commenced during the team’s training camp in Abu Dhabi and was subsequently ruled out of the competition.
Peseiro, whose tenure with the Super Eagles recently concluded, emphasized that Boniface's presence would have had a substantial influence on the team's performance at the tournament
“I will say that Boniface would have made the difference without injury,” he stated in an interview in Portugal, according to AfricafootUnited. "He was very confident and adept at playing comfortably in our two-man attacking style.
Additionally, his ability to operate on both sides of the strikers would have made him a pivotal asset in the tournament"
“Our options to refine our style were limited in his absence,” Peseiro added, underlining the impact of Boniface's unavailability on the team's tactical flexibility.
