Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino faces a challenging scenario as he prepares for the upcoming match against Newcastle United on Monday.
The club confirmed today that several players, including Ben Chilwell, have sustained injuries, necessitating strategic alterations.
Injury Woes and Potential Lineup Changes
Among the casualties is Marc Cucurella, who has recently recovered from an ankle problem. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Cucurella's fitness, Pochettino hinted in his pre-match press conference that the 25-year-old may step in for the injured Chilwell.
Pochettino conveyed his thoughts, stating, "The most important thing for us is to work on us. We need to find different solutions again to deal with these injuries and see if Marc Cucurella arrives in good condition, to see if we are changing the way we play."
Limited Left-Back Options
With Levi Colwill also sidelined due to injury, Cucurella emerges as the sole left-back option at Pochettino's disposal for the Newcastle encounter. Malo Gusto has occasionally filled the role this season, but being a natural right-back, his adaptability may be tested as the team seeks to address defensive gaps.
As Pochettino navigates the challenges posed by injuries, the focus remains on devising effective solutions to maintain the team's performance against Newcastle United.
