'I moved to Man City because their fans are ‘more passionate’ - Why Samir Nasri Left Arsenal for Manchester City

Former Arsenal star Samir Nasri recently opened up about his departure from the Gunners and his subsequent move to Manchester City.

Nasri's decision to leave Arsenal for City in 2011 surprised many, including fans and pundits alike.

The Shift in Allegiance

Nasri, a French midfielder who enjoyed three successful years at Arsenal under the guidance of legendary manager Arsene Wenger, made a significant impact on the pitch. However, despite his popularity among Arsenal fans, Nasri opted to join City, citing a key factor in his decision-making process.

 Passionate Supporters: A Decisive Factor

One of the primary reasons Nasri cited for his move was the perceived difference in fan passion between Arsenal and Manchester City.

The ex-Marseille star said: “Arsenal have good fans but not that passionate since they moved from Highbury."

He asserted that City supporters exhibited a level of passion that he found lacking among Arsenal fans since their relocation from Highbury.

Nasri added, “City fans are really passionate. When we played against City, the crowd was amazing. That’s what I want.”

 Career Highlights and Beyond

Nasri's tenure at Manchester City saw him achieve notable success, including winning the Premier League title under Roberto Mancini and later under Manuel Pellegrini. Despite his achievements, Nasri's career eventually took a downturn, marked by loan spells at Sevilla and permanent moves to clubs like Antalyaspor, West Ham, and Anderlecht.

In retrospect, Nasri's departure from Arsenal sheds light on the various factors that influence a player's career decisions, with fan passion emerging as a significant consideration in his case.
