Napoli president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, contemplates the emotional complexities surrounding the potential departure of star striker Victor Osimhen.
Speaking at the FT's Football Business Summit, De Laurentiis acknowledged Osimhen's potential departure for a staggering fee, possibly reaching €150 million. He stated, "Osimhen has a release clause. That's a lot of money. Money is Napoli's latest problem."
Despite the financial implications, De Laurentiis affirmed Napoli's commitment to making astute investments in players, asserting, "We have always made good purchases and will continue to do so in the future."
However, he candidly addressed the emotional aspect of player transfers, likening them to bidding farewell to a child. He remarked, "The problem is only sentimental, because every time a player leaves it's like saying goodbye to a child, but at the same time you're happy even when he achieves success elsewhere."
