Real Madrid is set to endure an extended period without star midfielder Jude Bellingham, with sources indicating that the appeal against his red card from the contentious draw with Valencia is likely to be turned down.
The English midfielder was handed a red card for dissent after the final whistle of Real Madrid's match against Valencia at the Mestalla.
Bellingham's potential game-winning goal in the 99th minute was disallowed as the referee had blown the full-time whistle a second earlier, sparking fury among him and his teammates.
Despite Real Madrid's appeal, the Competition Committee seems poised to reject it, resulting in Bellingham's absence for at least two upcoming matches against Celta Vigo and Osasuna.
If the suspension is increased to three matches, the 20-year-old midfielder would also miss the fixture against Athletic Club on March 31.
