Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal coach, provides insights into Jurrien Timber's anticipated return, highlighting versatility and recovery progress.
Timber's Return from Injury Anticipated
Arsenal's head coach, Mikel Arteta, has unveiled the timeline for Jurrien Timber's debut with the Gunners. Timber, who sustained an ACL injury last August during a match against Nottingham, has been sidelined since then.
Road to Recovery
Despite his setback, Timber had shown promise during the pre-season following his transfer from Ajax. However, the injury derailed his progress.
Arteta disclosed ahead of Arsenal's upcoming Premier League fixture against Wolves that Timber has been actively training. However, the coach emphasized that the defender needs some game time with the U23 squad before he can feature for the senior team.
"Jurrien Timber looks really good in training," Arteta stated. "It’s too soon for him to play, but he will be tested again with the U23s, and then we'll see."
Versatility Highlighted
Arteta also shed light on Timber's versatility, noting that the Dutch defender is capable of playing in both left and right-back positions.
"I see him in right and left fullback roles," Arteta remarked. "We will utilize him in different ways as per the team's requirements."
