In a recent episode of 'The Honest Bunch' podcast, Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, famously known as Terry G, asserted that his fellow artist, Portable, emulated his "character."
Terry G expressed his views, emphasizing that Portable replicated aspects of his persona. He differentiated between musical emulation and copying behavior, highlighting Portable's failure to delve into the musical intricacies he embodies. "Portable picked the acting part of me. He didn’t pick the musical part of me," Terry G stated, questioning the depth of Portable's musical commitment.
Music Beyond Voice
Diving deeper, Terry G articulated his understanding of music, emphasizing its multifaceted nature.
He underscored the importance of musical instruments, implying that Portable's emulation only scratched the surface. "Music is about the instruments. Is it only about your voice? He didn’t create time to learn any instrument," Terry G remarked, suggesting Portable's lack of dedication to the craft.
Confrontation with AY. Com
In addition to addressing Portable's emulation, Terry G delved into a past altercation with another colleague, AY. Com.
He recounted the incident where he confronted AY. Com over ownership rights and performance of a collaborative song. "I beat AY.Com, I produced 'Pass Me Ur Luv', sang the hook and also had a verse on the song so nobody has the right to tell me not to perform that song at my shows," Terry G asserted, highlighting his contributions to the track.
Moreover, he criticized AY. Com for alleged non-payment for his production services, further complicating their professional relationship.
