- Victor Boniface Returns to Action with a Bang
- Nigerian Striker Scores in Europa League Comeback
Victor Boniface expressed his delight after returning to the pitch following a three-month injury layoff. The Nigerian striker made his mark by scoring for Bayern Leverkusen in their Europa League clash against West Ham on Thursday night.
Overcoming Adversity
Boniface's goal marked his first since returning from the three-month injury spell. He had undergone surgery for an adductor injury in January and had only recently made his first appearance this year in Bayer Leverkusen’s DFB Pokal win over Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Impactful Return
Despite his time off, Boniface came off the bench to score in Leverkusen’s UEFA Europa League 2-0 win over West Ham United. This goal was his fifth in six appearances in the competition for Die Werkself this season.
Joy and Determination
Reflecting on his return, Boniface shared his happiness, stating, “I feel good, I feel happy to be playing football again.” He acknowledged the challenges of returning from a lengthy injury, saying, “It was not easy after being injured for two, three months." However, he emphasized his commitment to the team, saying, “I am happy to come and help my team.”
