Declan Rice Reveals Why He Chose Arsenal Over Manchester City: Insights into His Playing Style and Rivalry with Rodri

Following his captaincy with West Ham United and their Europa Conference League victory, Declan Rice faced a decision between Arsenal and Manchester City for his next move. Ultimately, he chose Arsenal, with the club shelling out £105m, surpassing Manchester City's £90m bid.

Since his transfer to Arsenal, Rice has become a pivotal player as they challenge for the Premier League title, currently leading the table with three games left. Despite the tight competition from Manchester City, Rice thrives in high-pressure matches, particularly against Rodri.

While acknowledging their differing playing styles, Rice enjoys the challenge of facing Rodri and appreciates his structured approach, contrasting it with his own more spontaneous style.

The former West Ham Captain said, "With Rodri, he was born in Spain, he’s always been a natural No 6. You can just tell by the way he plays that he’s worked under Pep (Guardiola) for so long. He’s a lot more structured than I am. I’d say I’m a lot more off-the-cuff. Obviously, this season I’ve been more structured. But in terms of the way I play, I feel like… being free a little bit more. There are different things that we complement each other on - but no doubt, he’s the best in the world."
