Nigeria Football Federation Appoints Finidi George as New Head Coach
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially announced the appointment of Finidi George as the new head coach of the Super Eagles. George, a former Super Eagles player, will be assisted by Daniel Amokachi and Benjamin James, both experienced football professionals.
George's appointment follows a thorough selection process, during which he demonstrated his coaching prowess as an assistant to Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro at the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. He also led the team on an interim basis for the international friendly matches against Ghana and Mali.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau expressed confidence in George's ability to lead the team to success, stating, "We have faith in Finidi George to lead the team to the title next time." Gusau emphasized the NFF's commitment to supporting the team's quest for excellence, saying, "Our objective now is to ensure the enthronement of excellence at all levels of the National Teams."
George's appointment marks a new era for Nigerian football, and he is expected to bring his expertise and experience to lead the team to success in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and beyond.
