Olivier Giroud has confirmed his departure from AC Milan at the end of the current season. He will be joining Los Angeles FC (LAFC) in the Major League Soccer (MLS).
In a video message posted on social media, Giroud expressed his pride and gratitude for his time at AC Milan, where he won the 2021-22 Serie A title and scored 48 goals in 130 games. "I'm proud for what I did here at Milan, I'll play my final games and then I'll move to MLS," he said.
Giroud's decision marks the end of an era in his European career, as he prepares for a new adventure in the United States. The French striker has had a prolific career, scoring 276 goals in nearly 700 league and cup appearances, and is France's all-time leading scorer with 57 goals in 131 appearances. He has won 11 trophies with several clubs, including Montpellier, Arsenal, Chelsea, and AC Milan.
Giroud's move to LAFC is expected to be a significant addition to the team, which has reached the MLS Cup in the past two seasons. The deal is reportedly valid until December 2025, and Giroud will join a roster that includes other World Cup winners like Lionel Messi and Hugo Lloris.
This marks the end of an era in his European career, as he prepares for a new adventure in the United States. Giroud's prolific career and experience will be a significant addition to LAFC, and fans can expect exciting times ahead.
