(Photos) Aubameyang in Tears as Marseille's Europa League Dreams Crushed by Atalanta

Former Arsenal player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was visibly emotional as Marseille suffered elimination from the Europa League at the hands of Atalanta. 

The defeat dashed Aubameyang's hopes of participating in the final of the tournament, with Atalanta emerging victorious over the Ligue 1 outfit.

Despite Aubameyang's efforts leading Marseille to the semi-finals, their journey was halted as they failed to secure a spot in the final in Dublin, succumbing to a 3-0 loss in the second leg. In the preceding fixture, Marseille had managed a 1-1 draw against Atalanta at home, setting the stage for a challenging task to progress further.

Atalanta's dominance was evident as they secured a comfortable victory with goals from Matteo Ruggeri and El Bilal Toure, leaving Marseille's aspirations of European glory shattered.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang seemed to regain his goal-scoring prowess after a disappointing stint at Chelsea. Following a tumultuous departure from Arsenal in 2021 due to a falling-out with his manager, Aubameyang briefly joined Barcelona in January of the subsequent year before returning to England with Chelsea. However, after just one season, he was transferred to Marseille.
