Vincent Kompany Targets Oleksandr Zinchenko as First Bayern Munich Signing
Bayern Munich's newly appointed head coach, Vincent Kompany, has identified Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko as a top target for his first signing at the German club.
Zinchenko, 27, has struggled to secure a regular starting spot at Arsenal, making only 20 starts in 27 Premier League appearances during the 2023/24 season. His playing time has been limited due to injuries and inconsistent form, relegating him to third choice behind Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior.
Bayern Munich is in the market for a new left-back, with Alphonso Davies potentially departing the club. Zinchenko, who has two years remaining on his Arsenal contract, fits the bill as a suitable replacement. Kompany, who played alongside Zinchenko at Manchester City, values the Ukrainian defender's strong work ethic and relentless attitude.
Arsenal, however, is not planning to negotiate a contract extension with Zinchenko, having already committed to extending the deals of other key players. A permanent transfer to Bayern Munich could provide Zinchenko with a fresh start and more playing opportunities. Arsenal may seek a replacement, with Ferdi Kadioglu reportedly agreeing to personal terms with the club.
Kompany's interest in Zinchenko signals his intention to strengthen Bayern Munich's squad and build a competitive team for the upcoming season. The potential transfer would be a significant coup for the German club, and a new chapter for Zinchenko in his professional career.
