Memphis Depay Confirms Departure from Atlético Madrid, Eyes New Opportunities
In a recent interview with Nos, Memphis Depay confirmed his departure from Atlético Madrid, stating, "Yes, I'm now a free agent and I can go wherever I want this summer."
The Dutch forward, who joined the Spanish club in January 2023, has mutually terminated his contract, allowing him to leave as a free agent.
During his tenure at Atlético Madrid, Depay made 40 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals. Despite his contributions, he has chosen to move on, expressing gratitude to his former teammates, club staff, and especially the fans for their support.
Depay clarified that his focus is currently on the Euros, and he is not in advanced talks with any club. His departure from Atlético Madrid marks the end of a brief stint in the Spanish capital, and he is now free to explore new opportunities.
Previously, Depay joined Atlético Madrid on a two-year deal worth $3.25 million, following a fall out of favor with Barcelona after the arrival of Robert Lewandowski.
