Barcelona, his club, has made the decision to prioritize his health and avoid risking further aggravation of the injury.

According to a source close to the situation, "Frenkie can't force it after his injury as there is danger of making it even more serious." This decision comes as a disappointment to Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman, who had been counting on de Jong's participation in the tournament.

Koeman expressed his frustration, stating, "He was not gonna be ready in three weeks, unfortunately. Frenkie has a history with this injury, so we have to think about his health. The club over there decided to take risks, and this is the price we have to pay for it." De Jong's absence will be deeply felt, as he has been an integral part of the Netherlands national team, earning 45 caps and scoring 11 goals.

The Netherlands is scheduled to play Poland on June 16 in Hamburg, followed by a match against France on June 21 in Leipzig, and finally, a match against Austria on June 25 in Berlin.

While de Jong's absence is a significant blow, the Netherlands will need to adapt and find alternative strategies to succeed in the tournament. Coach Koeman will be tasked with finding a way to fill the void left by de Jong's injury and lead his team to victory.
