veteran Nigerian actor John Ikechukwu Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, went down in his hometown of Amuri, Enugu State, on Friday, June 28, 2024. The ceremony has drawn a significant gathering of family, friends, and fans to honor the life and legacy of the late comedian.

Health Struggles and Passing


Mr. Ibu's health challenges were widely known, and in October 2023, he made a public appeal for financial assistance to cover his medical expenses. His health deteriorated further, necessitating the amputation of one of his legs in November 2023. Tragically, he succumbed to cardiac arrest on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62.

Celebrating a Legacy in Nollywood


Despite his untimely death, Mr. Ibu's legacy endures through his prolific career in Nollywood. He starred in over 200 films, including notable titles such as "Mr. Ibu," "Police Recruit," and "Keziah." His contributions to the industry have left an indelible mark on Nigerian cinema.

Five-Day Funeral Services


The funeral services for Mr. Ibu will span five days, culminating in a thanksgiving service on Sunday, June 30. He will be laid to rest in his hometown of Amuri, Enugu State, surrounded by loved ones and admirers who continue to celebrate his life and work.
