Paul Pogba Addresses Career Speculation, Assures Fans He's "Still Alive"
French midfielder Paul Pogba has taken to social media to reassure fans that he is "still alive" and very much active in his career, contrary to recent speculation.
The Manchester United star is currently serving a four-year doping ban, which was imposed due to a violation of the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) regulations, stemming from a failed drug test in 2022. His legal team is appealing the ban.
In an interview with Al Jazeera in 2023, Pogba spoke about the intense scrutiny elite footballers face, using Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as examples.
He noted that despite their achievements, they are constantly required to prove themselves. Pogba expressed the harsh reality of the sport, stating: "Look at people like Cristiano Ronaldo or Leo Messi. They always have to prove again that they are Cristiano and Messi, after everything that they've done. Football is very beautiful but it is cruel. People can forget you the next day. You can do something great then the next day you are nobody. People are waiting for you, to say 'he's done, his career is finished', so many things, like I'm over, I'm dead, Paul Pogba doesn't exist anymore."
However, Pogba has now clarified that his comments were taken out of context and misrepresented. In an Instagram story, he wrote: "Old sarcastic comments deceitfully portrayed as 'genuine and recent' to generate clicks. I'm still alive guys don't worry." This statement aims to set the record straight and alleviate any concerns about his career or well-being.
