Van Gaal, who managed Manchester United from 2014 to 2016, won the FA Cup in 2016, a feat he referenced in his defense of Ten Hag. While acknowledging that Ten Hag has faced criticism, Van Gaal also praised his managerial abilities. "But I can also be more critical, he has not done it fantastically, no, you can be with a lot of criticism, but he has also shown that he's a good manager," Van Gaal added.
