Cardi B Embroiled in $50 Million Copyright Infringement Lawsuit
Acclaimed rapper Cardi B is facing a significant legal challenge as two artists from Texas and Oklahoma have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against her. The plaintiffs, Joshua Fraustro (Sten Joddi) and Miguel Aguilar (Kemikal956), allege that Cardi B's song "Enough (Miami)" unauthorizedly utilizes elements of their 2021 song "Greasy Frybread".
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, seeks damages totaling $50 million. The complaint also names OG Parker, DJ Swanqo, Atlantic Records, Warner Music Group, and Celebrity Booking Agency as co-defendants.
According to the plaintiffs, "Enough (Miami)" features substantial portions of "Greasy Frybread" without permission. Notably, "Greasy Frybread" was featured in the FX series "Reservation Dogs". Cardi B's "Enough (Miami)" achieved significant success, debuting at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her first Top 10 solo song since 2021's "Up".
