Officials at the Plateau State Tourism Corporation have announced the successful recapture of a hyena that escaped from the Jos Wildlife Park earlier this week.
The animal was located after a diligent search effort and tranquilized before being safely returned to its enclosure.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Corporation General Manager Chuwang Pwajok expressed his appreciation for the public's cooperation during the incident. "We deeply appreciate the general public for remaining calm and cooperative," Pwajok said. "This greatly assisted in the search and rescue of the animal."
News of the hyena's escape emerged on Monday, prompting park authorities to launch a search with the assistance of park rangers, game guards, and drone technology. The corporation assured the public that all necessary measures were being taken to locate the animal and ensure its safe return.
