Manchester United have confirmed the transfer of Mason Greenwood to Olympique Marseille for a reported €30 million package. The move brings an end to Greenwood's time at Old Trafford following a loan spell in Spain's La Liga.

Greenwood spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Getafe, where he reignited his goalscoring form. He netted an impressive 8 goals in 32 appearances for the Spanish club, showcasing his talent on a consistent basis. This resurgence in form is believed to have piqued the interest of Marseille, who have secured his services for the upcoming season.

The move to France represents a fresh start for Greenwood, who was previously a capped England international. The details of the transfer suggest a long-term commitment, with Greenwood signing a contract that runs until June 2029.

While the initial transfer fee may be lower than Greenwood's previous market value, Manchester United have reportedly negotiated a significant sell-on clause. This clause, believed to be close to 50%, will entitle them to a substantial portion of any future transfer fee received by Marseille between June 2025 and June 2029. This move allows Manchester United to recoup some investment while potentially profiting from Greenwood's future success.
