Chelsea FC Receives Timely Boost as Lavia, Gusto Return from Injuries
Chelsea FC has been handed a significant boost ahead of the new season with the return of midfielders Romeo Lavia and defender Malo Gusto from injuries. While Reece James continues his rehabilitation program, their return to full fitness provides a much-needed shot in the arm for new manager Enzo Maresca as the Blues gear up for preseason training.
Lavia, who recently completed a £58 million transfer from Southampton, is back in training after suffering a serious ankle injury during his debut campaign with the Saints last season. The young midfielder impressed in his limited appearances, making 12 appearances and contributing a goal before succumbing to injury.
Gusto, who joined Chelsea in January 2023, quickly established himself as a valuable asset, making 15 appearancesand registering two assists. His return adds depth to the Blues' defensive ranks.
Reece James, unfortunately, remains sidelined with a separate injury. He is expected to miss the beginning of the preseason but is undergoing rehabilitation and is aiming for a return in the coming weeks.
The return of Lavia and Gusto marks a significant milestone in Chelsea's preseason preparations. Their combined talent and experience is expected to play a vital role in the team's quest for success in the upcoming campaign. With a more complete squad now at his disposal, Maresca will have more options to choose from as he shapes his squad for the new season.
