Nigeria Police Force Responds to Criticism Over Suspected Bandits' Social Media Posts
The Nigeria Police Force has addressed the public's concerns regarding photos and videos of suspected bandits flaunting their ill-gotten wealth on social media. ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson for the force, reacted to the backlash on social media, where users criticized the police for failing to apprehend the suspects.
Adejobi acknowledged the frustration but emphasized that the police cannot arrest every criminal simultaneously. He urged the public to appreciate the force's efforts in arresting numerous suspects daily. "We can't apprehend all the criminals at once. At least appreciate us for the ones we have arrested. We arrest them on a daily basis, in large numbers," he stated.
The controversy began when a TikTok video and photos surfaced, showing suspected bandits posing with bundles of Naira notes and engaging in a giveaway. Nigerians on social media expressed outrage, with one user sharing the photos and commenting, "They are now posing with the ransom money. Showing that they are balling."
Adejobi's response highlighted the collective effort required to tackle insecurity and vices in Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of appreciating the security forces' efforts and individual involvement in addressing these issues. "One thing is sure, no criminal will go unpunished. Thanks," he concluded.
