Asake, whose full name is Ahmed Ololade Asake, recently shared insights into his unexpected collaboration with Nigerian music icon, Wizkid, on his third studio album, *Lungu Boy*. In an interview, Asake admitted that he initially did not plan to have Wizkid on the track but was pleasantly surprised when the opportunity arose.
“I didn’t know I was going to put Wizkid on that song, to be honest. I had someone else in mind for that song, but I think P.prime played the song to Wiz, and Wiz said, ‘I f*ck with this song, I want to jump on it,’” Asake revealed, describing the serendipitous nature of their collaboration.
Reflecting on the project, Asake expressed his enthusiasm about working with Wizkid, particularly on their joint track, "MMS," which has been making waves on digital streaming platforms. Asake, who has long admired Wizkid, shared, “It’s no secret that Wizkid is one of my music inspirations. As a young striving artiste in Lagos, I’ve been waiting for that right song, so when the opportunity came, it was a no-brainer.”
The track "MMS," which stands for "Mr Money Sound," holds special significance for Asake. He explained that the title encapsulates his journey in the music industry, marking an important milestone in his career. Through this collaboration, Asake has not only achieved a personal dream but also added a unique dimension to his musical repertoire.
