Osaghae's family, through the Akin Fadeyi Foundation (AFF), a nonprofit civil society organization, petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), to probe the circumstances surrounding his death. The family claims that Osaghae was healthy and had no known health issues before his passing.

According to the petition, Osaghae made a video call to his wife at 1:30 a.m. and later returned to work after being asked to retrieve an item by his boss. However, his body was found with strange marks and injuries, suggesting that he may have been tortured before his death. He assured that the outcome will be made public once the investigation is concluded. The police have promised a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Osaghae's death and bring those responsible to justice.
