Kano State Governor Imposes 24-Hour Curfew Following Anti-Hunger Protests

Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Governor of 

Kano State, has declared a 24-hour curfew across the state due to the breakdown of law and order resulting from anti-hunger protests.

At a press conference held at the Government House on Thursday, August 1, the governor explained the decision: “After careful consideration, we have come to terms that 24 hours curfew should be put in place to further prevent looting and vandalisation of businesses and killing of innocent citizens.” His statement underscores the urgency and necessity of the curfew to address the escalating situation.

Governor Yusuf also issued a directive to all security agencies in the state to ensure strict adherence to the curfew, emphasizing that their role is crucial in restoring peace and order.
