Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian president has called on protesters to avoid actions that could obstruct the country’s economic recovery. In his nationwide broadcast this morning, he acknowledged that the protests are driven by the economic hardships faced by many Nigerians. However, he stressed that his administration remains dedicated to listening to and addressing the concerns of all citizens.
“My administration is working very hard to improve and expand our national infrastructure and create more opportunities for our young people,” President Tinubu explained. This effort includes significant investments in infrastructure projects aimed at boosting economic growth and providing employment opportunities for the youth.
He also urged the public not to be misled or discouraged by past disappointments. “Let nobody misinform and miseducate you about your country or tell you that your government does not care about you. Although there have been many dashed hopes in the past, we are in a new era of Renewed Hope. We are working hard for you, and the results will soon be visible and concrete for everyone to see, feel, and enjoy,” he said. Tinubu emphasized that his administration is committed to delivering tangible improvements, signaling a new phase of optimism and progress for the nation.
President Tinubu further urged citizens to foster unity and hope, stating, “Let us work together to build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come. Let us choose hope over fear, unity over division, and progress over stagnation. The economy is recovering; Please, don’t shut out its oxygen.” He highlighted the importance of maintaining positive momentum and not allowing actions that could derail the ongoing economic recovery.
He concluded by reflecting on the 25 years of democratic governance Nigeria has enjoyed, urging citizens to be wary of efforts to undermine democracy. “Now that we have been enjoying democratic governance for 25 years, do not let the enemies of democracy use you to promote an unconstitutional agenda that will set us back on our democratic journey,” Tinubu cautioned, reinforcing his commitment to upholding democratic principles and advancing national progress.
