Serena Williams and Daughters Denied Access to Paris Restaurant
On the evening of August 5, 2024, retired tennis champion Serena Williams and her daughters faced an unexpected situation when they were denied entry to the rooftop restaurant of the Peninsula Paris hotel.
Williams expressed her disappointment on X (formerly Twitter), criticizing the hotel's treatment. She wrote: “Yikes @peninsulaparis I’ve been denied access to rooftop to eat in a empty restaurant of nicer places … but never with my kids.” Her message highlighted her frustration at being barred from the restaurant, particularly because it was not overcrowded and she had never encountered such an issue before, especially when accompanied by her children.
Adding a reflective note, Williams commented: “Always a first,” incorporating a hashtag related to the Olympics, emphasizing that this was a novel and troubling experience for her.
Williams had arrived in Paris in late July to participate in the opening ceremony of the summer Olympics as a torchbearer. Over her illustrious career, Williams has earned four Olympic gold medals.
