Ivan Toney Bids Farewell to Friends Ahead of Saudi Move
England striker Ivan Toney has said his emotional goodbyes to his close friends as he prepares for a significant move to the Saudi Pro League. Toney, aged 28, finalized his transfer to Al Ahli from Brentford on deadline day.
The transfer deal saw the Saudi Arabian club pay Brentford £40 million to secure Toney’s services. As part of the agreement, he will receive a lucrative wage package reportedly worth £400,000 per week, placing him among the highest-paid English footballers in history.
Before his departure to the Middle East, Toney gathered his friends for a heartfelt farewell. During the gathering, he reassured them of their importance to him and extended a warm invitation for them to visit him in Saudi Arabia. In his speech, Toney expressed gratitude, saying, "It's a simple one, obviously love for coming." He went on to emphasize the strong bonds they share, adding, "You all got invited for your own reasons we've had some good memories, everyone. More memories on our back, I'm sure. Might be a bit older, but still get down with it, you know, like that."
Toney concluded his speech by generously offering to cover travel costs for his friends, stating, "You're all welcome to come pull up anytime. Flights are on me. Don't worry, I've got you. We will enjoy."
