Austin Eguavoen has stepped down from his role as interim head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Appointed on a temporary basis, Eguavoen was tasked with managing two key 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches.

Under his leadership, Nigeria secured a decisive 3-0 victory against Benin Republic, followed by a goalless draw against Rwanda in Kigali.

Speaking after the match in Rwanda, Eguavoen emphasized that his mandate was limited to these two games and that he was pleased with the team's performance.

Despite being offered the chance to continue, he reiterated that his role was always meant to managed the team for those two games
