Miley Cyrus Faces Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Over Hit Song
Miley Cyrus is embroiled in a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Tempo Music Investments, which alleges that her chart-topping song "Flowers" borrows elements from Bruno Mars' 2013 hit "When I Was Your Man."

Miley Cyrus Faces Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Over Hit Song

According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Tempo Music claims ownership of part of the copyright for Mars' song and asserts that "Flowers" shares striking musical similarities.

The lawsuit highlights the resemblance between the two songs, citing identical melody, harmony, and chord progressions. Additionally, Tempo Music points out that certain lyrics in "Flowers" mirror those in "When I Was Your Man."

The company contends that Miley "intentionally copied" Bruno's hit, stating, "It is undeniable based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings that ‘Flowers’ would not exist without ‘When I Was Your Man.'"

Despite "Flowers" achieving commercial success, including a Grammy Award win, Tempo Music seeks financial compensation and requests that Miley be barred from performing or distributing the song. Notably, Bruno Mars is not a plaintiff in the lawsuit.
