Nigeria secured a 1-0 victory over Libya in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifying match, held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on October 11, 2024.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who came on as a substitute, scored the decisive goal in the 86th minute, breaking through Libya's strong defensive efforts.
Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, Nigeria struggled to find the back of the net for much of the game. Players like Alex Iwobi and Victor Boniface had their shots saved by Libyan goalkeeper Murad Al Wuheeshi.
However, Dele-Bashiru's late goal ensured Nigeria stayed top of Group D with seven points after three matches, one point ahead of Benin, who had earlier defeated Rwanda 3-0.
Nigeria's next game is an away fixture against Libya in Benghazi in three days. A win there would bring them closer to securing qualification for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco
