This move follows the departure of former manager Gareth Southgate, who stepped down after England's Euro 2024 campaign. Southgate had initially taken charge of the team on a caretaker basis before being appointed permanently.

Tuchel's last managerial role was with Bayern Munich, where he departed at the end of last season after missing out on the Bundesliga title. He has previously managed top clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea, where he led the team to Champions League victory in 2021.

Lee Carsley, who had been overseeing the team on an interim basis, will now step down as England manager. Carsley had taken charge of the team for the Nations League matches following Southgate's resignation.
