Mancini, who guided Italy to a UEFA Euro 2020 victory, was appointed as the Saudi national team coach in August 2023. During his tenure, he oversaw 18 matches, achieving seven wins, five draws, and six losses. His last game ended in a goalless draw against Bahrain in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
Mancini's tenure also included a lackluster performance in the Asian Cup, where Saudi Arabia was knocked out by South Korea in the round of 16. His departure follows reports of conflicts with fans and the Saudi Football Federation.
Before joining Saudi Arabia, Mancini enjoyed a successful managerial career, leading Inter Milan to three Italian league titles and Manchester City to their first Premier League title in 2012. Notably, he became one of the highest-paid managers globally when he signed a contract worth over $25 million annually with the Saudi team.
The Saudi Arabian Football Association is now in search of Mancini's successor, with potential candidates including Ramon Diaz and former Saudi national team coach Herve Renard.
