Former Arsenal defender Cedric Soares was honored in a touching ceremony at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal's Technical Director Edu Gaspar and Manager Mikel Arteta presented him with a special gift in recognition of his contributions to the club.
The ceremony took place ahead of Arsenal's recent Premier League match against Southampton, a game in which the Gunners triumphed with a 3-1 victory.

The match itself was filled with excitement. Southampton took an unexpected lead in the 55th minute through Cameron Archer, but Arsenal quickly responded. Kai Havertz leveled the score just four minutes later, assisted by Bukayo Saka. Gabriel Martinelli put Arsenal ahead in the 69th minute with another assist from Saka, who capped off his outstanding performance by scoring Arsenal’s third goal in the 88th minute, securing the win and maintaining the team’s position in the top three of the Premier League table.

Cedric Soares joined Arsenal initially on loan from Southampton in January 2020 before making the move permanent later that year. Throughout his time at the club, he made 36 appearances and scored one goal. Known for his versatility and professionalism, Cedric provided vital depth to the squad, stepping in during crucial moments. His journey to Arsenal was marked by resilience, beginning his career at Sporting CP before moving to Southampton in 2015. Despite facing competition and injuries, he remained a reliable player, contributing both defensively and offensively when needed.
The presentation by Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta was a fitting tribute to Cedric’s dedication and hard work during his time with Arsenal. The special gift symbolized the club’s appreciation for his efforts and the positive impact he made. Cedric, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed his gratitude to the club, his teammates, and the fans for their unwavering support.
As Cedric watched from the stands during Arsenal's victory over Southampton, it was clear that his legacy at the club would be fondly remembered. The ceremony not only celebrated his time at Arsenal but also highlighted the strong bonds and sense of community within the club. Although Cedric Soares’ journey with Arsenal has come to an end, his contributions will continue to be cherished by the club and its supporters.
