In his remarks, Governor Eno explained that his daughter would step in to ensure the smooth continuation of the duties of the First Lady, particularly to sustain the projects initiated by her late mother. He noted that Helen would collaborate closely with key officials, including the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare.

Governor Eno expressed full confidence in Helen’s capacity to carry forward the work of her mother. He also reaffirmed his dedication to preserving the values and vision of the office, highlighting the importance of the initiatives started during his late wife’s tenure as First Lady.

Speaking about his personal relationship with his late wife, Governor Eno reflected on their long and close bond. “I married her when she was 19, and I was 22,” he shared, adding that she had been a constant source of support throughout their lives together. He described her as the embodiment of a biblical virtuous woman, his greatest supporter, and also his toughest critic.

During a separate visit by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the governor addressed speculation about taking a second wife. He lightheartedly remarked, “I’m not considering remarrying anytime soon,” adding with a smile that he didn’t have the resources to pay another bride price.

Governor Eno emphasized that his late wife’s legacy would live on through their daughter’s work. He introduced Helen to the First Lady to continue coordinating the projects started by her mother, ensuring that the Office of the First Lady remains active and impactful in its initiatives.
