Real Madrid have officially confirmed that forward Vinicius Junior suffered a cervical injury during their 2-0 win over Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday. 


The Brazilian was substituted in the 79th minute of the match, soon after scoring Real Madrid's second goal.

In the match, Real Madrid delivered a commanding performance, with Federico Valverde opening the scoring in the 13th minute. Vinicius Junior extended the lead in the 72nd minute. This victory brought Real Madrid level on points with league leaders Barcelona, as both teams now sit on 21 points.

Despite this crucial win, Real Madrid remain in second place in La Liga, only trailing Barcelona on goal difference. The team continues to maintain an unbeaten record in the league this season.

Following the injury, Real Madrid released an official statement confirming the diagnosis of a cervical injury for Vinicius Junior.
