Media Personality Toke Makinwa Debunks Marriage Rumors, Reflects on Past Struggles
Toke Makinwa, recently addressed speculation surrounding her marital status during her 40th birthday Thanksgiving celebration in Lagos. A viral video featuring Makinwa and a male companion sparked rumors of a new marriage, but she swiftly clarified the nature of their relationship.
Makinwa emphasized that the individual in question, Farouk, is merely a close friend who provided support during challenging times. "Farouk held me down when there was nobody," she acknowledged, expressing gratitude for his presence in her life.
During the event, Makinwa also reflected on her tumultuous past marriage to Maje Ayida, which ended in divorce in 2017 due to infidelity allegations. She candidly shared her emotional struggles, revealing that she felt like she would "die" the day she ended the marriage.
Makinwa attributed her resilience to her faith, saying, "Jesus... saw me through a divorce. When I thought I was going to die... somehow you held me together." She also extended heartfelt appreciation to her friends for their unwavering support during that difficult period.
"I thank God for all my friends here," Makinwa said. "I have not been the best friend to you guys, but somehow, you see something, and I am grateful." Her heartfelt words underscored the importance of loyal relationships and personal growth.
