Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice showed exceptional resilience during last Sunday's 1-1 draw against Chelsea, playing through a broken toe.
Despite the injury, Rice was eager to feature in this critical match, demonstrating his commitment to the team. Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli scored in the 59th minute to give the Gunners the lead, but Chelsea's Pedro Neto equalized just ten minutes later.
Having missed Arsenal's midweek Champions League clash against Inter Milan due to the same injury, Rice was substituted in the 71st minute against Chelsea as a precautionary measure, to avoid further aggravation of the injury.
Following the game, it was confirmed that both Rice and teammate Bukayo Saka had withdrawn from the England squad for the November international break. The two players will remain at Arsenal’s training base in London Colney for ongoing assessment and recovery.
Arsenal’s next fixture after the international break will be against Nottingham Forest, a vital match as the Gunners look to regain momentum in the Premier League.
