Lamine Yamal has been forced to withdraw from the Spain squad due to a recent injury. The 17-year-old Barcelona forward suffered a grade one high ankle sprain, which will keep him sidelined for up to three weeks.
This injury comes after his impressive start to the season with Barcelona, where he has contributed to 12 goals and provided a La Liga-leading seven assists.
Yamal was notably absent during Barcelona's 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad on November 10, 2024, where the team failed to register a shot on target.
Spain is set to face Denmark on November 15, 2024, and will also host Switzerland on November 18, 2024, as part of their Nations League campaign. With Yamal out, coach Luis de la Fuente has called up Bryan Gil to replace him in the squad.
