The socialite, who was named Best Dressed Female at the event and won ₦1 million, expressed that this recognition marked the beginning of his downward spiral.
Reflecting on the experience in a recent Instagram post, he stated, “My problem started from when I collected best dressed female with ₦1 million prize. For my life, if I see award for best dressed female I go disappear from that location asap."
This controversy comes amid a series of legal issues and public scrutiny. In April 2024, Bobrisky was arrested for allegedly mutilating the naira and served a six-month sentence.
Although he was released in August, the situation surrounding his imprisonment sparked further allegations. Rumors claimed he used a ₦15 million bribe to resolve a money laundering case, which led to an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bobrisky has denied these allegations, calling them "fake," while threatening legal action against those spreading the rumors.
In October 2024, Bobrisky was again in the headlines after being arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) while attempting to leave Nigeria via the Seme border.
This arrest has raised more questions regarding his ongoing legal troubles. The NIS confirmed that Bobrisky is a “person of interest” due to his involvement in ongoing investigations and is currently under interrogation.
Despite being cleared of some allegations regarding his jail term, the investigation into his treatment while incarcerated continues. It was revealed that Bobrisky enjoyed several privileges during his time in custody, including a furnished private cell, access to a phone, and visits from family and friends. Further investigation is underway to determine whether these privileges were a result of financial influence or corruption.
